No video on gpu?

My freind on his 7950 has this problem as he describes it

 

"turned my computer off one night the next morning it did not power back up[snip]... the fan turns on, but no video"

 

his igpu works and my 6950 both work in his machine...what could be the problem?

Most likely the gpu is dead. Does his pc turnes off after some time?

Nobody nowadays has a speaker and it sucks, because speaker can tell 99% info about the issue.

So yes, try connecting your display to the mobo's video, if it  works, I guess then gpu could be dead.
