There would be no harm in it would there. People could sign up if they chose and if say 1000 people chose to give just $1 thats an extra $1000 a month for Linus Media Group.

I think its a grate idea and should be done as another way for people to donate money if they feel they want to.

Or maybe all the money gathered each month can go towards a monthly giveaway.

What are your thoughts on this?

Ah ok yeah but there set prices, Im saying more let people chose.

Someone might only want to donate $1 some one ells might want to donate $7.50 letting people have the choice of what they want to donate each month will make there more likely to press that donate button.

I think the problem with that might be that there's fees on online payments and if they're too small they become not even worth it with the minimum fee ammount. I know this was a problem with paypal and IDK what else there might be but it might be that way for everything out there.

If I remember right, then Linus doesn't want to go the Patreon route because Patreon encourages the user to set up a reward system of sorts, be it special videos, or early access to them. Which doesn't really work when used in conjunction with YouTube, since users are easily able to share videos between each other. Hence why they went the Vessel route.

And lets not forget that PayPal always takes a small cut from every transaction made. Donations of $2-3 is more or less not worth anything. As of right now, the best way to support them is to become a supporter here on the forum, along with just watching and sharing Linus' videos.

If its option to donate only small amounts ($1 is honestly too small with PayPal), most people won't. Donating more at once is much easier and feels better. Like my $50 donation for campaigns so far. I would donate more if there would be option for it. But atm they don't like having button for it. And if there would be one, minimum would be something like $3-5.

Why not also have the option for people to donate in Bitcoin?

If I remeber Linus correctly, its all about conversation rates. If you can convert them to dollars, do it, don't leave it to them.

Back then he was referring to buying/selling products for Bitcoin. Donating Bitcoin is just pure profit for them.

Not really since they would still need to convert bitcoins to dollars. I'm not sure if this is better in NA but here only IT companies accept bitcoind as is. So since they are using money for paying for employees, rent, electricity, internet etc. they would loose more in conversion on their side.
