I have a 4770k on a custom loop. This is my first attempt at an overclock on it. I have cpuid up. I have the oc at 4.5 and when I pull up cpuid it shows it at 4.5. My question is, and it may be the dumbest question, but did my oc stick. I ran prime 95 for around 10 hours. I'm just surprised if it did work on first attempt at it. The temps also only reached 77. That's why im curious.

use HWMonitor or CPU-Z ID

look at the speed it going along with the temps

at load the CPU will hit 4.5GHz

at idle it should downclock

use adaptive voltage

I would suggest OCCT, Aida64 or XTU instead of Prime95, though I heard it has been updated. That is kinda dinosaur of stress testing software. As for question itself, if multiplier and total speed (seen in MHz) are what you have set them to be in BIOS, then they are working. Unless you disable Intels power saving features, you will see OC only when stress test is running. I'd also disable turbo boost. Remember to use manual voltage while stressing it.

And your temps are lower than what most people get since you have better cooling solution.

Do this only after you have found stable settings for your OC VVV

use adaptive voltage
