Hi guys,

Problem:

I am have a serious problem on my hand: my main C drive (on Windows) is full.

This prevents me from intalling software, viewing picture, using photoshop and Unraring any file, probably because these all have to save data to the C drive. However I was always carefult to Install and save everything on the D drive which is 2TB, so that I won't have this problem.

Solutions I have tried:

I already emptyed my trash and used that thing in the properties to clean my drive. I already cleaned up my drive with CCleaner. I had run both Malwarebites and Windows Defender separately to get rid of viruses, both of which fond one-one virus. I have also took a look at WinDirStat but that seemed like a whole lot of random crap like game saves and other inportant to function files.

Question:

It seems that altough I try to save everything on the D drive some software will ignore it and mess with my C drive.

So what can I do to make some space on my C drive? Should I reinstall Windows, but wouldn't that cause data loss on the C drive? Is there a software that prevents software to use the C drive? Is there a better cleaning tool than what I used? Or did I miss something obvious?

Thanks for reading.

Get EaseUS Partition manager.

Make your C drive a few GB bigger (and obviously shrink the D partition by that same amount).

That's if you have 1 HDD. If you have 2 of them it won't work.

change your browser to move downloads to D:

uninstall your games, reinstall on D:

install anything new on D:

move all personal files and non-OS related items to D:

even move your photoshop to D:

don''t reinstall.

if you find a bigger drive or swap to an SSD use clonezilla to copy everything over piece by piece, perfectly.

We can't Benchmark like we used to, but we have our ways. One trick is to shove more GPUs in your computer. Like the time I needed to NV-Link, because I needed a higher HeavenBench score, so I did an SLI, which is what they called NV-Link back in the day. So, I decided to put two GPUs in my computer, which was the style at the time. Now, to add another GPU to your computer, costs a new PSU. Now in those days PSUs said OCZ on them, "Gimme 750W OCZs for an SLI" you'd say. Now where were we? Oh yeah, the important thing was that I had two GPUs in my rig, which was the style at the time! They didn't have RGB PSUs at the time, because of the war. The only thing you could get was those big green ones.

Nothing you can do about it then.

Get another SSD and put them in RAID 0.

How big is your SSD?

did you enabled System Restore?

it takes a snapshot of the PC state and stores in the C drive

Budget? Uses? Currency? Location? Operating System? Peripherals? Monitor? Use PCPartPicker wherever possible.
