Copying Over Windows 8.1

My Current Hard drive has been making grindy noises for about half a year or more and I am planning to get a new Hard drive as soon as I can. I am wondering whether I can add my new hard drive and clone my windows drive onto it so i can completely remove the old drive and use my new drive as the Primary boot without needing to reinstall windows again, and install all my software. Thank You :D -- Heller

your hard drive has been making unhealthy noises for about a year and you decide to replace it now? lol.

i would reccomend you reinstall windows and your programs as it is a much safer option

p.s look into buying a ssd as a boot up drive

Yup :P Been trying to decide what i want, I would like an ssd aswell maybe this one http://www.amazon.com/Corsair-Force-2-5-Inch-Internal-CSSD-F60GBLS/dp/B00EENQ0U8/ref=sr_1_1?s=pc&ie=UTF8&qid=1427265441&sr=1-1&keywords=ssd (Used for Boot and Editing/Creation Software only) , but I still want to know how risky it is to attempt something like this.

I don't recommend cloning your HDD.  Its really easy to reinstall Windows and the benefits outweigh the shortcuts of cloning, just use this guide:

Please spend as much time writing your question, as you want me to spend responding to it.  Take some time, and explain your issue, please!

I know how to Install Windows just fine(thanks anyway) the reason I wanted to do it this way was to not have to bother with it, buuutt I guess reinstalling is basically my only option. :/

Things can be really sketchy if you simply clone the drive, so while it sucks and can become rather tedious, it would be a safer option just to reinstall Windows and your programs. I can't remember what it's called, but there is a way to create a custom OS installer where it will automatically install any applications that you want and can also remove any junk or unwanted programs as well; the catch is that you have to know the bit and the programs that you want. It's pretty handy.
