How does the gtx 960 stack up against the 770? I currently have a gtx 770 but my friend is giving me his 960 because he upgraded. Should I throw the 960 in my rig to replace the 770? I've seen benchmarks showing that the 770 beats the 960 by less than 10% but thats non overclocked, and I've seen a 960 go well over 1500mhz. My 770 is running at 1058mhz.

the 770 is slightly better, though you could OC the 960 to run equal to or better than the 770 and get the features that come with 900 series cards.

If nothing else, run them both and see how they stack up. The GTX 770 however should be slightly better, if not more.

Do your motherboard have another PCI-e slot that doesnt screw up the airflow?

If Yes id regommend you to use the 960 as the main GPU and use the 770 as a dedicated Physx processor.

If no, If you overclock, 960, But i dont think you will feel much difference.

You would see better temps in the case with the 960, it doesnt have as high TDP.

Another side note is my room get extremely hot (like 30c) after just 2 hours of gaming. Thats why im thinking about keeping the 960. This is fine in the winter because I can just crack open a window but in summer it will be a nightmare
