Microsoft Flight Simulator X performance

I have a GTX 970, 12 GB's RAM, and a Core I5 3350p. I just installed FSX and knowing it was made in 2005 I'm really suprised I can't max it out? Perhaps I am missing some updates? I am installing it straight off the disk so I could be missing some. You think that a computer that has parts that came out 10 years after release should be able to max out the game. Any explanations or suggestions are appreciated.

its also mostly Cpu intense and 2 cores max

so more Ghz is better here

Your CPU is the limiting factor, since FSX is extremely cpu bound. The only time I've really seen it run well is with Sandy/Ivy 5GHz+ rigs. You could try the DX10 fixer for it but that's up to you.

Think of it as of kerbal space program. Doesn't look all that impressive until it hits your cpu with a physics sledgehammer.

Have you looked into Prepare3D at all? Also if you're running FSX, what addons are you running? Chances are your VRAM may be maxed out. A colleague of mine barely manages 15 FPS with dual 780's and a 2700K @ 4.8.

There are a few service packs that are needed unless you have the Acceleration pack or the gold edition i think. Just check their website should say downloads somewhere, you can find info there. Also have dx 10 enabled in the settings, its just a trial but increases performance.

runs 100% on my 4790k all the time. your cpu is older though. wich might limit it
