Black screen when logged in.

NobblyBobbly

Hello

Well I came home from school yesterday to find that my mum has done something which has resulted in the monitor going black when you log into any of the users. The login screen shows normally and even when you're logged in you can still see the cursor but its as if everything has been lost. Apart from that I don't really have anymore information, my mum can't remember if she was asked to install anything, she says it just happened. Can something please help resolve this if possible? I can try provide more information regarding stuff in task manager but thats about it.

Thanks in advance.

Matt

:)

Can you do CTRL + ALT + DELETE? If so, then do that an start Task Manager then end the process saying Windows Explorer (does not matter if it is not there), then at the top press File > New Task and type in:

explorer.exe

and press enter. This MIGHT work.  :)

Hi,

Do this ;

1) Reboot and press F8
2) Select "Repair my computer"
3) Select the keyboard layout and lanugage
4) When you reach system recovery tools, select System restore.
5) Select the restore point when it was working fine and restart the computer.

That's it....

If you do not have the system restore points, try startup repair.

My sisters machine does this...you just have to wait a very long time.

No amount of closing and opening explorer from start will help, tried startrep but that didn't work.

Try booting it in safe mode. From there you can do a integrity check and malware scan.

The computer doesn't allow me to go into the F8 menu. The only options I can do is DEL (BOIS), F9 (system information) and F12 (boot menu), I press F8 but it just boots up normally, how do I get F8 to work?
