I'm about to buy this UPS (550VA / 330W) this Easter and I would like to know how long it will be able to keep my system on. Here are the specs :

- Core i3 4140

- GTX 750

- Samsung 250Gb EVO SSD

- Seagate Barracuda 1Tb HDD

- 2 case fans and 2 other fans on the CPU cooler.

- 450W Gold PSU (that is probably never used at its full potential)

- Samsung SyncMaster F2380

Thanks

Unfortunately they don't last a very long time, at full load 5 mins, on the low end an hour at most, I used one for my PC until I replaced it for a larger one since I did an upgrade, but I still use the 550VA for running my networking equipment during power outages which lasts a good +1hr.

Here's the Specs:

Thanks. I haven't measured the power consumption of my system, but it probably consumes around 100W in normal use (no gaming), since the core i3 and the GTX 750 are very power efficient. In the specs, they say that it lasts 12-13 at 160W, so maybe I should expect around 20 minutes.

Heres an important question. How often do you lose power that a UPS would be a required piece of equipment?

Im assuming most people should only need 5 minutes to save what they were doing and power down their systems. However if you are looking for one to provide power for a certain amount of time after the power has went out. You possibly might wanna invest in generator system with automatic switching fallover and redundant outlets. Similar to how hospitals are. While I dont see it as being too important to have all this unless you have a chronic issue of power outages I would say if you need the ability to use the computer for extended amounts of time after the power has gone out. You may want to look into a backup generator that can supply your house with auxiliary power during outages so you can keep on chuggin along.
