At 1080p/1440p? Yes it will a lot depending on the game.

To put it nicely, the FX-8370E is a true middle-of-the-road CPU. Using it only makes sense as long as the graphics card you choose comes from a similar performance segment.

Depending on the game in question, AMD’s new processor has the potential to keep you happy around the AMD Radeon R9 270X/285 or Nvidia GeForce GTX 760 or 660 Ti level.

A higher- or even high-end graphics card doesn’t make sense, as pairing it with AMD's FX-8370E simply limits the card's potential.

directX9 and 11 will cause a bottleneck in games that require a lot of draw calls per second.

1080p

I edited the post with benchmarks.

I wouldn't get a 295x2 if I were you as you'd simply not be getting a great value out of it with your CPU & it's overkill for 1080p 60Hz. If you plan to upgrade your resolution/CPU in the near future, sure go for it.

@Fate

So would you recommend i go with the i7 4690k then?

4690k is an i5, the i7 would be 4790k.

If you do plan to get a 295x2 I would get a 4690k as well, but like I said, for 1080p 60Hz, a 295x2 is overkill most of the time.

Sorry, I meant i5. I'll probably get a 1440p monitor and have my 1080p on the side. Thanks for your help

i5-4690k or i7-4790k would be huge improvements. But why would you buy an R9 295x2 for 1080p

on the cpu side of things for gaming the jump between an i7 and an i5 isn't worth the extra money. In most games you'll see very little performance increase.

if you're into video editing and photoshooping then an i7 makes perfect sense. but not souly for gaming.

Gaming PC: • AMD Ryzen 7 3900x • 16gb Corsair Vengeance RGB Pro 3200mhz • Founders Edition 2080ti • 2x Crucial 1tb nvme ssd • NZXT H1• Logitech G915TKL • Logitech G Pro • Asus ROG XG32VQ • SteelSeries Arctis Pro Wireless

It does if you're buying a 295x2 and are a person who wants an upgrade path that isn't complete garbage or non existent.
