Why is my internet doing this?

So my internet speed from speedtest.net i get 25 download speed and 8 upload,But recently when im trying to download things my downloads download at like 20kbs which shoudn't be happening at all.

ANY HELP?

It depends where you are downloading from, your max speed and the speed that servers let you download from are very different. Torrenting for example isn't your max speed but what others are uploading at.

Yea it can also be the region like when i download something form googlechorme 500 kbs and from steam i can set my server to the closest country to me and i get like 2.5 mbs

im downloading from mediafire in google chrome should i try a different browser or download manager although same thing is happening on steam

Try at a different time of day mediafire only has so much bandwidth, it could just be a busy time for them. If you google it you will see its not uncommon.

Try doing your speedtest again but make your the server used ISN'T your ISP, is it still high?

 

I just googled "steam download slow" and once again people seem to have varying issues and fixes, have you checked your download settings and region in steam?

I dont know how to change the server and i havent checked the steam thing because it used to download with more then 1mbs

Before you hit begin there is a option to change it.

 

From my googling just now i learned that different steam regions have limits, hence why changing the region sometimes helps.

 

TL;DR Google is a great resource and worth using.

Yes depends on the torrent popularity and its age, I didn't say you couldn't torrent at max speed but that the speed may not be at your max speed.
