Steam keeps locking up

for some reason when I boot up steam it keeps locking up I timed it at a minute and 36 secoinds on my system I started playing with some thgings I installed to see what the mause might of been, I thought it was avast I uninstalled it and joy the problem was fixed, except it wasnt it worked fine for a bit. then I was playing arma and tried to open my controls and it ginded to a halt trying to load the controls settings locking the game up for...I dunno 10-20 seconds and it worked again (this was happening before too and it was fixed the 1st time I went into my controls but a little later it slowed down like before) once finished I shut arma down and shut steam down worried the problem returned and sure enough steam is taking an eternity again to boot. So does anyone have any idea whats up and how to fix this?

I tried shutting down my HOTAS warthog software razer synaspe and avast and none seem to be the root cause I got some results with avast but not for long.

I have also reinstalled steam and ran that...repair thingy that I cant think of the name of on arma.

Not to put you off, but steam community is far more likely to have a suggestion than LTT.

It could be any of many things. There are many possible issues.

Your forum password? Steam Community and your Steam account is combined into one. You don't need a separate password.

No, although i talked to the support they told me that they were aware and were working on it. Steam is always good with these issues. Either in the upcoming update or next one after that.
