Windows 7/8/10 - Windows Update Cleanup

Having recently upgraded to W8.1 on one of my main machines, I'm still experiencing the laggy Windows Update Cleanup that I encountered in W7. Do you guys think this will be addressed in W10? It's a common problem - Google it. It shouldn't take ~30 minutes to compelte a 145MB WUC. When I was monitoring the WUC, I noticed that CPU util was around 30% and disk activity was low ~1-2%. But once the progress bar comes to around 80%, there is a spike in both CPU and disk activity and the WUC completes at a much faster pace. FYI - using a 3770 and a 840 Pro.

I haven't downloaded the W10 TP yet, so I haven't been able to test. I'm assuming that we will only be able to test this functionality once the OS goes RTM and patches begin to be deployed to end users.

I have a feeling there is some kind of conflict occuring between processes accessing the WinSxS folder? I've done some searching and haven't been able to find a solution.
