Alot of OEM lock the bios to only boot from a certain drive, throw that Dell garbage out of here.

Hey Thebman712,

I would suggest checking the drive with a diagnostic utility to see if it actually functions correctly. The manufacturer's tool would be the most appropriate.
Just to clarify, you install a fresh copy of Windows on the SSD and after that everything works fine, but then do you try to move the SSD on a different system or try to boot from another drive (after you have removed the SSD) where you have another OS?

ok so, when going through the instal proses im fine until it tells me to remove the usb drive and reboot. At that point it tells me there is no boot drive to boot to. This only happens with the ssd, and it seems that only half the needed files are transferred to it, do i by chance need a internet connection when instaling windows.

Tdlr i cant properly instal windows and boot from the ssd.

Apologies, I got it wrong.
You could try going to BIOS and changing the BOOT ORDER, configuring your SSD to be the first one to boot from. Check if the HDD is not set to be in front of the SSD in the booting order.

Are you sure you are booting from the SSD and not from the flash drive?
Maybe you can re-do the thumb drive as a bootable device and see if it works properly.
If you don't have anything important on the SSD, delete it, remove the other storage drives from your system, install the OS from the thumb drive and put the SSD as the first device to boot from (not only from the external ones, but also above the optical drive and any external drives) and see if that works.

thats how it is, i was not able to instal windows from the usb to the ssd and when i tried to boot from the ssd with it being the only thing instaled/ plugged in, i can try again but sata hard drive was the first thing in the boot order.

Tell you what, i will try and do exactly what you are saying later today and take photos of it the while time and upload them so we can see exactly what is happening.

@Thebman712 did you redo the bootable flash drive or did you use the same one as the first one? The photos are a bit blurry and I cannot see the exact errors, but If there's an error on this step, my guess would be that there is something wrong with the bootable drive (even after nuking the drive where you are installing the OS).

Hello, does anyone know if running raid 0 on 2 ssds will have the trim function enabled? im on a P8z77-v-pro motherboard with a i7 3770k

@thechankwhoganks TRIM should work fine if you have Windows 7 SP1, Windows 8 or later (it should be activated automatically). Here's a link to a KB that guides you how to check if it's enabled or not: http://www.eightforums.com/tutorials/39569-trim-support-ssd-check-enable-disable.html

Hi guys, i have a weird case right now. My windows update failed 3 times and i would get failed to configure update reverting changes blah blah. I just decided to do a bench mark and noticed that my 2xSamsung 850 Evos 250gb dropped 100mb/s read performance and 50 on write...... Any help or ideas why this is happening ?
