Go to work one more day and buy Shure se215. I absolutely love these earbuds. I use them to do sound checks. My bestfriend has the se315 and loves them. The noise isolation foam is nice if you just want quiet. They block out quite a bit of noise on an airplane creating a comfortable atmosphere. They are very comfortable and I can wear these for several hours at a time. Comes with a carrying case as well.

Apple Earpods.

Those don't isolate at aaaall. He'll have to max out his volume to be able to hear the music.

The only IEMs I can think of under $40 are the Nuforce 770X and the Sony MH1c. I have the Sony's and they sound good, however the cable is horrid and they're a little bloated on the bass department. The Sony's are miles better than the cheap Sennheisers though. The CX Sennheisers give me headaches.

Edit: The Etymotics MC5 cost around $50, and they're quite famous for their great isolation.

I like being able to hear things around me. Have you actually used them?

I guess it doesn't matter whether there is isolation or not seeing as those are more expensive, I would just like the earbuds to fit very well in the ear without much distortion when volume is little louder...and has to be good quality...I will be using these all throughout my trip...not only on the plane...I was looking at steelseries flux in ear mobile, and heard good reviews about it...anyone has any other recommendations?

The best way to predict the future is to invent it
