There just isn't that many reviews out there of the Dell. TFT central did one here is a link http://www.tftcentral.co.uk/reviews/dell_u3415w.htm. It is curved which is a good thing. It also has a better stand. But the brightness control is locked which created issues for response time and takes away from gaming. The bought the LG for $819.00 U.S. and the Dell is going at $1099.00. I did not think the extra cost was worth the curve and a not as good gaming experience.

TFT Central has also done a review on the LG 34UM95 right here: http://www.tftcentral.co.uk/reviews/content/lg_34um95.htm#intro

I must say, the LG 34UC97 is a pretty nice UltraWide monitor.

Although, its previous brother also looks pretty good and is considerably cheaper.

Both are great options though, I'd definitely go with an LG UltraWide display if I were you.

At least where I live the Dell is noticeably cheaper than the curved LG. TFTcentral also has positive reviews about both of them and what I've read on other forums are also mostly positive. I don't own either myself but I've had several Dell monitors in the past and I've been very happy with Dells customer supprt and warranty service. It would also be easier to give an opinion if you gave us the prices.

Here is a review of the Dell by one of our forum members: http://linustechtips.com/main/topic/287941-dell-u3415w-ultra-widescreen-219-curved-34-gaming-monitor/

I'm not sure why the LG gets so many recommendations here without any motivations. Perhaps because Linus reviewed it?

If you don't mind going a bit smaller.. not sure your plans with it. But NCIX just dramatically dropped the price on a 29UM65 $310 with free shipping. Amazon has it for $470............................+ TAX

I picked one up but they didn't have a free shipping option, so I emailed them and the refunded it.

So for my new computer build

2/10 parts  => NCIX

7/10 parts  => NewEgg

1/10... a yet to be deteremined GPU...

so back to your question, everything I looked up said the 34" LG, but way over my personal budget

Thinking of getting either the Dell u3415w or LG 34UC97-S. From what I can tell, the Dell has a better stand and warranty. The LG may have slightly better color accuracy.

Any opinions one way or the other?

Thanks.

I have the Dell, what would you like to know?

Stand is awesome, warranty is nice, it uses the same panel as the LG, has awesome I/O (if you don't need thunderbolt), and has speakers (if you don't already).

I've posted here before on my thoughts living with it, so I won't rehash them here.

To follow up. I ordered and received the LG 34um95. I loved the 34 inch ultrawide but the panel I got has a ton of backlight bleed. I set up a RMA the same day I received it. But I had already gave my BenQ 1440p to my son. So I needed to figure out what to do fast. After using the LG 34um95 for 2 days, I realized that on a monitor this big ,it is hard to see the corners when viewing at a comfortable position. So I decided that the curve might be more then a gimmick. I ordered the Dell u3415w. It came today. Very little backlight bleed. The curve makes viewing a much better experience and the stand is much better on the Dell. I got the ICC profile from TFTcentral and the colors are great. So I have changed my opinion and have used both monitors first hand. The curve is subtle, but makes a very big difference in overall viewing and the stand is very good. The Dell is a better monitor and is worth the extra money.
