So I'm looking for a pc. Currently I have a Dell Inspiron 1501, which is really outdated and slow. I dont have any pc peripherals so it is a little bit more difficult to choose. I am wondering if I should buy this Dell XPS 8700 for $800 +tax in Canadian Dollars- http://www.dell.com/ca/p/xps-8700/fs) and then buy a monitor or should I build a computer? My budget is like $1050 and it has to include the peripherals e.g. monitor, keyboard & mouse, OS.

Thanks for reading, I hope you can help  :)

I also will be playing some games (Minecraft maxed out with shaders, BF3, possibly BF4, TF2, AC4, and some other games)

I would like 60ish fps on high to very high details, the monitor will be 1920x1080, so I can game at 1080p

I wouldn't get a Dell. If you want to upgrade anything other then the hard drive, RAM, or video card you going to have a bad time.

Build you own. It's way easier then you think it is and cheaper. Plus that XPS machine has an i7 paired with a 7570 HD which is a massive bottleneck.

For around $1000:

GPU: GTX 760

CPU: core i5 4770k

Motherboard: a gigabyte z87 D3H

PSU: corsair CX430

Case: Corsair 200R (or some other fairly cheap case)

hard drive: Get whatever. As long as it's not a low power or green drive, it will be fine.

sound card: Xonar DG (or DGX if you get a motherboard without a PCI slot)

Alternatively, you could swap out the intel CPU for an AMD FX-6300 (and get some random AMD motherboard that, ideally, can overclock) and get a more powerful graphics card, like a GTX 770 or 670.

Also, you will thank yourself for buying a sound card, if you listen to music.

Thanks everyone, I'll just build a pc. Intel i5 4670k or AMD FX 8350?

For gaming, the 4670k is better. Considering your budget and a lack of peripherals, you might want to go for slightly cheaper parts.

I haven't used a Dell since the the 2004 Dimension model. That thing had cheap as shit PSU, MOBO, RAM, ect. If they has gotten thier shit togather since then I guess that's good.
