Hey I'm looking for some decent video editing software? Preferably free

DaVinci Resolve Lite is pretty good (atleast when I used it)

Adobe Premiere. It's very popular and works seamlessly with After Effects, if you're into that.

Hmm... Maybe use Handbrake to transcode transcode it to something else?

Go for Adobe Premiere.
