Returning the 980

Hi,

 

Have some questions. I am interested in getting the AMD 300's series cards. So i am going to return the 980 FTW for temporary purposes i need a card that can play games like BF4, CSGO and BFH other few games. What should i get a 290 or 290x? Which Brand? please help

So you have a 980 right now but plan to return it because you're so convinced that a card which isn't released yet will be better? What if its delayed or the cost isn't what you expect? or god forbid its not as good as the latest Nvidia card at the same price point when the release does actually happen.

 

That's a lot of what ifs you're willing to take on in exchange for something solid you already have.

"Leaks" are definitely a reason to switch to a product on that nothing has officially been announced yet.

True, but I think it'll be wise to just wait. Get rid of it when you finally plan to get the new 300 series cards. Instead return, get a 290x, wait, return, get new 300 series.

you decided on the 980, im sure you can do it do on which 290/x..

 

IMO, not a very good/wise move..but im sure you have your reasons for that move..make that 980 the temporary card

It's kinda up there with preordering a game because of screenshots, just much more expensive.

Well the OP just did may head in.

There is no confirmed performance figures on the 300 series, who's to say it's going to perform better than the GTX980.

And with the announcement of AMD ending Mantle, there's really no point in getting excited until the 300 series card comes out.

 

The GTX980 wasn't a wise choice if you were going for a Temporary card, would of been better off with a GTX970 or 290x in the first place.

 

But again if you're returning the GTX980 thinking the 300 series is going to kill it, it's too early to say if that's true.

No I mean leaks as in the sense they are bad. The leaks are soo widespread, some people choose to think they are like the final performence of the card

Exactly, which is why he probs shouldn't do so much right now. He should wait it out instead of going through 2 different cards to see if he likes the new cards.
