  1. Change CPU cooler to Raijintek Triton.
  2. Get cheaper mobo. Save around 40$.
  3. Cheaper storage. That HD is utter bulshjt, and the SSD could be around 40~50$ cheaper.
  4. SLI Gtx 970.

1.why this particular cpu cooler?

2.i picked this one because of the led read-out for issues.

3. ill be switching to a WD black for my HDD i think. and the SSD im not too concerned about.

4.ill stick with the 980 so i can sli 980's later if i want, and because not all games support sli.

  1. Because it's cheaper, very strong, has super awesome looks, and you can re-use it in a custom loop if you decide to do so in the future.
  2. Uh.... wut?? Pick any of the first 5 choices on this page. They'll all perform exactly the same, no issues. http://pcpartpicker.com/parts/motherboard/#l=2&c=99&sort=a8
  3. -
  4. If your "later" is somewhere within 1 year, it's understandable. If not, just get SLI 970 and upgrade to a newer GPU at the time.

A ddr3-1600 CL9 memory kit would be marginally better. G.Skill does have such kits.

The Samsung 850 EVO is less expensive in most markets at the moment. It replaces the 840 EVO and uses more advanced memory technology.

I realize that the Asus Z97-PRO(Wi-Fi ac) motherboard does not have nice looking red trim. However, it does have on-board dual band a/b/g/n/ac WiFi and Bluetooth 4.0. You might consider the motherboard as a suitable replacement to the Gigabyte and Asus WiFi card.

Memory timings are measures of how long it takes to get to particular bits of memory. For the same speed, lower CL/CAS means faster access. The difference between CAS 9 and CAS 10 is very small, you would not notice it. However, generally the price differential is quite small between 9 & 10 for DDR3-1600 and it makes sense to me to get the marginally better kit.

The message would be very long :) . Instead I will suggest reading http://www.anandtech.com/show/7364/memory-scaling-on-haswell to learn about the actual differences with DDR3 in Haswell systems. Before that you may need http://www.thinkcomputers.org/memory-timings-explained/ to understand some of the terms. If you are really interested in the subject http://www.hardwaresecrets.com/article/Understanding-RAM-Timings/26/1 while dated, provides a detailed look.

But do this at your leisure. The real world difference in performance is quite small for general use and gaming systems. Hardly worth worrying about.

The WD Blue is a good hard drive but don't get it for that price ($158). The other listed stores are selling it for $66-$74.

Yeah, a single 980, stop trying to justify your purchase by recommending it all the time

but still dual cards arent always effective in gaming. a single more powerful card is still the top choice.

Unless we are talking about the most powerful card and the 2nd most powerful card, that costs a lot less. In that case, going dual GPU is actually a lot stronger, and not that much more expensive.
