Yeah, I was surprised to read it in the manual. Doesn't 'burning in' happen anyway when using them normally over time?

 

Well it's one of the controversies in audio world. I personally just use them directly.

On the tube amp point, it just makes the 500's sound worse so i wouldn't bother. If you have a bit of cash i would make a custom cable as has been said the stock one is a bit stiff and very micro phonic.

for the break-in, just use it normally with music, movies, and games.
