For the past 3+ years me and my family have been stuck with this dinky, bargain wireless Motorola brand router that TWC was kind enough to restrict my family to. It constantly smells of burnt plastic just from general use and I CONSTANTLY get Host migration issues even though a wired connection, and now that we have much more financial backing and I have joined the mustard race, we are going to get a new one before ours catches fire.

It must have the following:

-Price under $250.

-Good wireless performance. (good enough for smartphone and basic laptop use, not necessarily heavy gaming)

-Excellent wired connection. (for use with desktop PC gaming)

-Will be able to port foreword with ease.

-NO "Resolving Host" errors!

I appreciate any recommendations, and if I left out any important information I should have given please ask!

Thanks in advance.

I've got a TP-Link Archer C2 AC750. If your budget is $250 (a lot more than mine was) You could get the 1750 model, and if you're comfortable that one supports ddwrt.

If I had the money (and you have it, it's on sale) I would get this one http://amzn.com/B00HKEI3DA

Thanks for the reply, but this review kind of discourages me: http://www.amazon.com/review/RTKTCD0EE10BG/

Has anyone else had (or heard of people having) these issues with the router?

Everything has a few bad reviews.

It's still a solid router nonetheless!

Got a Netgear NightHawk R7000 after my Asus RT-N66U had the 2.4GHz band drop out. It was a good router while it lasted. The Netgear is much better when it comes to wireless but it also has the advantage of being wireless ac instead of n (the Asus was older, pre 802.11 ac). The port forwarding is pretty easy.
