My laptop has Realtek HD Audio Manager on it, and whenever I plug in headphones/speakers it opens and asks me to select what device I just plugged in. Until this opens and I select a device, sound just goes through  the laptop speakers. The problem is sometimes I have to unplug and plug back in the device 5 or 6 times before it opens. Is there a way to disable that feature and have it just switch to the device as soon as I plug it in without choosing a stupid preset? Or can I uninstall it altogether without messing up my audio?

If you try to uninstall it you will uninstall your Audio drivers. You can set your default audio device in windows. Normally I have my headset as a communications device only.

If you try to uninstall it you will uninstall your Audio drivers.

It should only uninstall the software itself - the drivers should remain, which is why Windows can then manage the devices without interference. ;)

go into your realtek device settings and set it like this:

also click on the circles on the right when you have your headphones plugged in, and that should give you an option to set it as default something
