hey guys any info on the dx12 fixing the memory allocation in the SLI mode ?

will x2 gtx960 4gb from evga will work as 8gb

and 960 2gb will work as 4gb ?

and more on the dx12 release and stuff that will be possible with it please share !

sorry for my bad English !

Rumours have it both AMD and Nvidia cards will scale memory wise

(Nvidia will most likely patch this as they patch everything fucking usefull)

Nvidia is to Dr Dre Beets as AMD is to KFC.

One makes you broke, the other you can get more of and have a midnight snack from the fridge when hungry again. Once you go Nvidia, you go broked, turn into an Elitist, or get the incorrect amount of VRAM.

I was only 9 years old. I loved Fifflaren so much, I had all the NiP merchandise and matches pirated. I prayed to Fifflaren every night before bed. Thanking him for the life I have been given. Fifflaren is love I say. Fifflaren is life. My dad hears and calls me a fuckhead. I knew he was just jelly of my passion for Fifflaren. I called him a Sw@yer. He hits me and sends me to go to sleep. I'm crying now, and my face hurts. I lay in bed and it's really cold. A warmth is moving towards me. I feel someone touching me. I feel someone touching me. It's Fifflaren. I am so happy. He whispers in my ear; "this is my pyjama". He grabs me with his powerful Swedish hands and puts me on my hands and knees. I'm ready. I spread my ass cheeks for Fifflaren. He penetrates my butt-hole. It hurts so much but I do it for Fifflaren. I can feel my butt tearing as my eyes start to water. I push against his force. I want to please Fifflaren. He roars a viking roar as he fills my butt with his love. My dad walks in. Fifflaren looks straight into his eyes and says; "He is a ninja now". Fifflaren is love, Fifflaren is life

In theory, yes it can be possible to stack VRAM of two cards..

In reality, it will probably depend on whether or not the game developer implements it properly. We'll just have to wait and see what actually happens.

i7 not perfectly stable at 4.4.. #firstworldproblems

well it would be nice to get them all in here

i know nothing about it and i like this forum

Rumours say that it might be like you wrote, but don't buy a 960 with 4GB Ram^^

why is that ?

because the 960 doesn't have the horsepower to fill those 4GB up

4 real ?? any links ? maybe in private msg ?

think about it logically, the memory bus width is only 128 bits wide, the core performance is pretty meh, in sli it could utilize close to 4gb i'm sure, but really? paying a premium for that on 2 cards? you're better off spending your money on a single 980 or stretching it to sli 970s (or get one 970 and save for another) where the performance will actually be worth it.

the memory bandwidth on the 960 is pretty pathetic and certain settings like AA and higher quality textures need a decent amount of bandwidth to move large files in and out of memory quickly. the 960 is a decent midrange card for a single card setup but it is too anaemic to be worth it for sli.

My 675MX with 4GB has filled it up on some games :/ So... not sure where you get your info.

some games on some setups will see how much ram you have (4 gigs for example) and reserve as much of it as they can with caching so other applications can't use it. and the op was about sli and crossfire, specifically the vram on 2 adding together (for example, crossfiring 2 270x 2gb cards giving you 4gb of ram)

I know I was answering the other person that posted here saying that the960 is not powerful enough for using 4gb and it is. Even though it's only some games.. There are games that do use it and it is better to have 4gb rather then 2gb even I'd the card is slower

Needs Update

the games that "use" 4gb are caching to the vram to reserve space. games do this. a single 960 isn't capable of decent framerates while using settings that are going to truly max out a 4gb frame buffer. it just isn't. it doesn't have the memory bandwidth, it doesn't quite have the processing power. it is slightly better than a 760, and when that card came out with a 4gb model, it was mostly viewed as an sli variant since sli was the only way to get playable framerates while actually making use of 4gb.

a game that is caching to vram isn't using that vram so much as reserving it. you want to run at settings that will use 4gb, run 4k medium and let me know how well that single 960 works.

"Fixing memory allocation" - it was never a bug in the first place. Its working as intended. Because most people don't understand that unless you have a bridge between the 2 GPUs that is 2x wider than the GPU's memory bus (to account for the worst case scenario) - there is simply not enough bandwith for your GPUs to acess the other GPUs memory without taking massive hit to performance, which makes the whole idea of stacked memory instead of mirrored memory in SLI kinda retarded, even if API can do it. At least until nVidia release their gpu's with NVLINK.

hey man if you will that SLI bridge I got with the Mbo work good ? or do I need to get another one

it got me thinking!  does my gtx 670 SC 4gb edition have enough horsepower to efficiently use all 4 gigs?

considering the 760 was essentially a 670 and it was regarded to not be able to deliver decent fps at settings requiring close to 4gb i'd say no. sli was required to drive 3 1080p displays and that's where you'd really need more than 2gb (at the time)

the sli bridge that came with your mobo is fine.

All SLI bridges are standart. They only differentiate in looks.

Yes it does. Ignore anyone who tells you otherwise.

You have no idea what you're talking about, please stop. vRAM guide is in my signature if you wish to learn what it is you're saying wrong.

considering the 760 was essentially a 670 and it was regarded to not be able to deliver decent fps at settings requiring close to 4gb i'd say no. sli was required to drive 3 1080p displays and that's where you'd really need more than 2gb (at the time)

GTX 760 = 1152 cores

GTX 670 = 1344 cores

They are in no way "essentially" the same card. A 670 will forever destroy a 760 at the same clocks.

Also, refer to my above post about "being able to use 4GB". Just because a game bundles other quality settings in with "texture resolution" aka "texture map size", doesn't mean all games will, and it does not mean the card cannot access and use all 4GB of its buffer properly.

I have finally moved to a desktop. Also my guides are outdated as hell.
