Refresh Rate

Just finished building my first pc. All the drivers are installed everything seems to be running smoothly except for one issue. I have a Nvidia Geforce GTX 980 connected to a BenQ xl2720z via HDMI. The preferences (both windows and Nvidia) won't allow refresh rates of above 60 Hz when both the monitor and card are capable of running at 144 Hz. What is going on?

Use DVI or displayport and it should work

Have you tried using DisplayPort? I'm not sure if HDMI can carry 1080p at 144hz. I'm probably wrong, but it's worth trying DisplayPort just to be sure.

I believe you need to use either a DisplayPort or Dual Link DVI cable.
