Hey Guys! So, due to the fact that my current computer is incapable of playing any modern game above 10 FPS, i decided to build myself a new one.

I have been doing alot of research and have found what i believe to be a good build. This is what i have so far:

Cooler Master HAF XM USB 3.0 E ATX Case

Asus P8Z77-V PRO Motherboard

Corsair H100i Liquid Cooler

Intel 3rd Generation Core i7-3770K (Overclocked to 4.5)

EVGA Nvidia GTX 780 3GB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card

Corsair 16 GB Vengeance 240-pin DIMM DDR3-RAM 1600 MHz PC Memory

Corsair Enthusiast Series TX750M Power Supply

Samsung 840 Series Pro 256GB 2.5 inch SATA Solid State Drive

Western Digital Red - 2TB

LG GH24NS95.AUAA 24x SATA DVDRW

Microsoft Windows 7 Professional

I have read, and heard from people with "experience" that the Haswell 4770K doesnt overclock aswell as the 3770K but, i was hoping you might be able to clear the air with that one.

For those of you that feel this build sucks, please, feel free to write me up a new one.

Location - UK

Budget - £1600 ($2500) Doesn't matter if you are slightly over

Usage - Gaming with some video editing

Monitor - The price would need to include a monitor (which my above build does not)

Peripherals - I would be happy with W, A, S, D, and a mouse but if the budget allows it, i am more that happy to get a good keyboard and mouse.

Thanks in advance!

Your parts look pretty good, about 3770k vs 4770k. It's true that the 3770k will run a little bit cooler, however with haswell you're looking at a 5-10% performance increase right out of the box. So I think it makes up for it. Plus haswell motherboards are FILLED with new features and connectivity. So that would be the main reason to choose it over ivy bridge, since it will cost you a little bit more.

I would drop the 16GB of RAM down to 8GB - you probably won't use it, and can always add more later. Even with video editing, 8GB is more than enough.

As for the 4770K vs 3770K, I would consider the difference in overclocking pretty negligible. The 4770K will perform slightly better at stock, but it's not really worth it at current prices, since it just released (in my opinion).

Other than that, it looks good.

That's a fairly big budget, I wouldn't skimp on the peripherals, since you can probably fit them in easily. Maybe not a 1440p display, but definitely a quality 27" IPS panel.

Shadow raven, as far as i'm aware the i7-3770s isn't unlocked so won't do him much good.

A few edits: http://uk.pcpartpicker.com/p/1e20y

Use the left over money (if there is any) to pick out some peripherals. I highly recommend trying out a mouse/keyboard before buying it. If you gamble and end up not liking what you get, you're going to have a bad time.

CPU - I7-3770k

GPU - EVGA GTX 780 3GB

RAM - Corsair Vengeance 16GB 2x8 (Low Profile)

HDD - 2TB WD RED 7200

I have a system very similar to your one (GTX 680 instead of GTX 780 and ASUS P8Z77-V Deluxe), but i went with  Corsair HX650 650 watt power supply with 80 Plus Gold efficiency. Since you will be using a more powerful GPU, i suggest you go with at least a 650w power supply.

The best part of the HX650 is its efficiency. Since the PSU is very efficient, the fan on the PSU does not even need to spin when performing light work that requires low to mid power. Your budget is pretty big so i suggest going with a good power supply with good efficiency as it will deliver cleaner and more consistent power with lower power wastage compared to a cheapo one.

The part i don't understand is the 2TB WD RED 7200. Why a RED drive ? From my knowledge, the Red's are used on NASs or servers. They would certainly work but i would rather prefer a Black one, which is more optimized for fast casual computing rather than for servers.

Why get a WD red? Those are for NAS.

Stick with a seagate barracuda to save money and get better performance.
