I haven't seen much talk about Blackberry phones on this forum so I might as well start another of the rare talk about them.

Iv been eyeballing the BB Q10 for a while now and I know its not exactly new by today's standards but it just seems like a solid little device and can be got a a decent price.

Iv had a BB years ago than I started with full touch screens, I'm not a heavy phone user I mostly use it for twitter, YouTube, email, imgur and obviously phone and sms communication.

I guess im rambling on here abit much my question is is there anyone here with a BB Q10 that can give some feedback on it and is it worth the purchase?

Disclaimer: I don't have one.

That said blackberry has less app compatibility than windows phone. Possibly even than symbian. I'd stay the hell away.

Pretty sure you can run Android apps on it.. Not sure..

I don't have one, but I have read a few reviews.. And they were not very positive to say the least..

Iv been reading for a while over a crackberry and it seems to be getting great reviews, and maybe with the "take over" from Samsung (if its at all true) might see BB get back into the game alot more.

I had a Q5(gave it to my Mom), but I was very impressed with that device. Overall the experience is smooth, and the use of gestures made the UI "make sense" to me. BB10 is full of neat features and is really a no compromise OS. If typing is your primary goal, then the Q10 will be perfect. Media consumption is great, as long as its not on the screen. BB10 makes a really great music player since you can take advantage of the multi use button for play/pause, and the volume keys even act like previous/skip buttons. Watching videos is a joke though, since they are tiny on the 1:1 screen and the black bars just show how much space is being wasted. Viewing photos is alright, since the pixel density is nice, but there isn't much viewing area. App support from the BlackBerry App World is fairly limited. There are some neat/useful apps, but the selection is just limited(luckily there isn't pages of garbage like Windows Phone). The good news is that you can run APK's from Android, and even better most of them work, so as long as you have some way of getting APK's you can have a pretty good app selection.

Windows Phones app selection is borderline garbage(poor selection, lacks quality). At least BB10 has the capability to run Android APK's.

Yep, you can. Here is the Q5 running Nova Launcher:

^^No root, jailbreak, or firmware flash. QNX(Android) is built into BB10.

I don't have a Q10, but I have a Z30 (now given to my dad), which is close enough to offer info.

For built-in apps such as calling, texting, emailing, etc. BB10 is excellent, since those uses are pretty much what it's designed for. However the third-party app selection is hit and miss. The built in Twitter and YouTube apps are very outdated and although basic functionality is there it's still not a great experience compared to the newer versions of those apps on Android, iOS, and in the case of Twitter, even Windows Phone.

You CAN install Android apps on BB10, it takes a bit of patience to learn how to do it properly but once you get the hang of it, it's very easy. HOWEVER a big thing you have to know is that BB10 does NOT have Google Play Services, which are required to run many popular apps, so you won't be able to use certain Android apps such as YouTube or Snapchat.

Sadly if it weren't for this I'd be using the Z30 as my daily driver. I love the form factor, the screen, and the speakers of it, but the lack of Google Play Services makes the whole Android apps experience disappointing. However apps that don't require Google Play services run decently well, they just take a bit longer to launch due to them having to start up a different runtime outside the QNX launcher. I have no clue what gaming would be like on the square Q10, but the similar spec Z30 runs Asphalt 8 perfectly smoothly at medium settings.

There's always this as well http://apps.evozi.com/

And yeah I love the BB music player. I have over 2000 songs, being able to open the app and then immediately start typing to find a song is awesome. The volume keys skipping songs is nice as well but can be added to Android devices through mods/ROMs

You can get the Play Store to work on BB10 devices, but it still does not allow the installation of Google Play Services. I used Snap and it also works very well.
