We now know directx 12 will support multi-gpu, right? (nVidia and AMD together)

Does anybody know if it also supports like configuring current gen gpu to older ones, like could I use my GTX 980 for example together with like GTX 580? I dont care about performance or anything, I just want to know if its supported...

So how can an nvidia and amd gpu work together? I mean they have different architecture right? If gpu with different architecture can work together (with different manufaturer), can gpu with diff architecture with the same manufaturer should work? I dont understand...

No one does yet. However, AMD and Nvidia made statements about making crossfire/sli work together, possibly through drivers.

it doesnt matter is something is "supported"

 

what matters is whether nvidia will allow it in their drivers

and currently they do not

either the higher performing card will be dragged down by the lesser one..(like crossfire)

 

or

 

a split screen frame will have different quality (lol, talking nonesense here)

 

EDIT: but what would make sense (IMO) is gtx 970's in SLI with stacked vram (right?) or and just like this for crossfire

Well nVidia and AMD are not that dumb, though (I assume). If you think about it, for example when nVidia tried to block multi-GPU config (I'm talking about my question, same brand), wouldn't the other team (AMD) take advantage of that, if they allowed multi-GPU with different architecture, I dont know about you guys, but I would absolutely buy AMD instead. Same on vice versa.
