Read some guides, there are plenty of good ones out there!

Also, welcome to the forums :)

EDIT; if you could find what model of athlon exactly you have then you could look up a guide for a similar architecture. (maybe this will help)

Bleigh!  Ever hear of AC series?

First definitely get an aftermarket cooler.

Second ..

In a Google search you get some decent information but I didn't find anything I would call a guide.  If I found a guide I would have posted it here.  GL OP!

Too many ****ing games!  Back log 4 life! :S

hey guys,i have a amd athlon II x2 processor and a asus m5a78lmlx motherboard.i want overclock my cpu,but i don't know how to.help!

Google search "Overclocking guide Athlon x2"

Should bring up RELATIVE results.

If you typed "Overclocking guides" you'd get so many different types of CPU/Motherboard generations, which ARE different in how they can be overclocked.

Some CPU's require a certain way compared to others.

This is why you read specific guides for the CPU series you have and what socket it uses.

/If you using a stock cooler, you'll not get far at all, and would be pointless in that respect. Sorry to say.

Maximums - Asus Z97-K /w i5 4690 Bclk @106.9Mhz * x39 = 4.17Ghz, 8GB of 2600Mhz DDR3,.. Gigabyte GTX970 G1-Gaming @ 1550Mhz

Please get an aftermarket cooler, stock cooler won't be able to cool your CPU when overclocked. Secondly, please overclock from the BIOS manually! There is a feature in some motherboard like OC Genie but overclocking manually is better. Lastly, read the manual, read the OC part or you can see video guides about overclocking.
