Heyho!

I need your assistance. About 12 days ago, I purchased roughly £95 worth of Ralph Lauren products from site called "davidralphlauren.co.uk". Everything seemed quite legit, and I never experienced this. I then proceeded and mde the purchase with my Visa card (if I recall correctly). I received a quite basic email which lists my ID, numbers, the amount paid and something about "easytosales" company.

Since then, I didnt get anything back and since I checked the site yesterday, it is down. Not sure what I could do right now.. should I go to my bank? Can they do anything?

I am VERY worried, please help!!

I placed the order on the 25th of February. I will include the mail I received after the purchase when i get home later on.

I am not quite sure. I first checked it yesterday since then, as I started to get worried about what happened after a week or so. Not too sure, check the link I included. Apparently its registered by some UK company, but I dont kow how to see if its real or fake.. I know nothing about this.

To be honest it looks pretty suspect to me. Are you checking your card balance online? It might be a good idea to keep an eye on that and maybe call the fraud protection team for advice (I think the number should be on the back of the credit card? or run a search for it on the internet). I think they may almost certainly want to cancel your card and send you out a new one. :0/

I'm guessing the money's been drawn from the card? But they didn't draw more than the value of what you purchased?

No, the last time I checked only the actual value was withdrawn from it.

I'm not confident of its legitimacy. If you made the payment 13 days ago, that doesn't look right at all.

FYI, I tried to access the website - I couldn't. It says the server isn't found.

It depends on who you used to send the money, barclaycard, Paypal etc.

With credit card companies you can request a chargeback.

You'll have to contact them.

It was a Visa Debit card as far as I remember.

Yeah, but I do not wish to spend £100 on a shirt, hence I thought this site would be better as it offered somewhat lower prices.. I was wrong. :(

Seriously, we've all done it. The important thing is to learn from the mistake.

If it was a debit card you might not have the same level of cover but they might be able to retrieve the funds for you.

I should imagine the person the money went to should be traceable so it could be something as simple as the person that set up the website was just under-informed as to what is and isn't really acceptable in that particular market. But that having been said you definitely should contact your bank about it and they probably will want to issue you with another card.

The only place you can really get designer stuff cheap (at least legally) are liquidation places like TK Maxx. I've found some really beautiful clothes in there, it just takes ages to find anything good and you have to trawl through lots of crappy stuff to get to it. Plus it's generally end of season or might have minor defects but if you choose sensibly you can get some nice stuff.
