What are the difference between hyperthreading vs real cores. An i3 is a dual core but hyperthreaded processor but a i5 mostly has quad cores....

Does no. of actual cores really improve performance over virtual cores? if yes then how much?

both the i3 and i5's are shown as quad cores in windows task maneger. then why i5 is better..

I3 HAS ABOUT 60% OF THE MULTITHREADED PERFORMANCE OF AN I5.

MEANING ITS ABOUT 40% SLOWER THAN AN I5.

Hyper-Threads share resources pretty much like how a Bulldozer module works. This limits them to about 30% of their true potential because they are resource limited. The i5 has four logical cores where each thread has its own resources so it's never waiting on another thread. It's really like having four inflated tires versus two inflated and two almost flat.
