I am currently running a build with an

Pentium E2140

No GPU

3GB RAM

CX750M ( long story short, don't have any other power supply except that)

This is a dell with some slight upgrades in a nutshell

anyway. I am currently idleing (roaming fourms with 2 tabs in chrome) at 54 DEGREES, its not a thermal paste issue as I recently reapplied it.

Does the processor normally run this hot? or what. The fan goes crazy and is audible from at least 5 feet away, or is the fan just really bad.

Umm.... dell case. How are you getting heat out of the case? Try flipping the power supply so it pulls air from the case, and vents it out the back, might help your cpu fan a bit if the ambient is lower.

The power supply is external and not even in the case

1. try keeping side panel off, and check if temps improved.

2. try aiming a room fan (a fan that you would use to cool yourself off on a hot day) and aim it straight at the computer, with the side panel off. check if temps improved ;)

Uh... too little info to make any sure sense. First, if its with stock cooler then it seems normal for low load. Chrome is known to be resources hungry so sub-20% loads I would assume. The case is also part of issue but only when under load. Which I would assume will be around 80C.
