Hi guys,

can anyone help me pick between these two builds and/or suggest improvements (trying to keep it below £700/US$1100), i have an Intel one and an AMD one;

Intel: http://uk.pcpartpicker.com/p/wt9pJx

AMD: http://uk.pcpartpicker.com/p/G92nFT

Any feedback welcome, thanks :)

   If the SSD is not necessary for the AMD build, drop it and pick up a 8350 and dual-channel RAM.

Go with the AMD one but try to switch the cpu to the 8320 for more cores or 8350 for more cores and higher clock speed. With the Intel processor you have I just see the AMD processor out performing the intel one by a little bit.

What will you be doing with it? Can't really tell you much if I have no idea what it will be used for.

Is it bad that my dream setup only costs a few thousand not counting the obutto?

Its alittle over your price, but that extra £30 is worth it.

If you could squeeze the budget to accommodate an 8350, then go AMD. The intel will have better single threaded results, but with the extra cores, the 8350 puts up a good fight for its price, the only downside is the age of the platform. it is starting to get a bit old.
