Hello everyone,

I was just wondering about ideas for a gaming build around $2500(including a monitor and a keyboard, no mouse required.)
only requirement is that it has to be Wi-Fi connectable.

Open to any and all suggestions.

Thanks. :)

I was just curious on a few things.

1. Would it be okay to run a 4790k?

2. Would it be better to run something like a h110 or a h105?

3. Would it be worth it to grab a gtx980?

Thanks, im just looking at computer parts and i will be saving of for this computer for about 2 months. so i just wanna get my build down. :)

1. Yes, i'ts perfectly fine but I see no need as your intended purpose is to only game. I only recommend the 4790k if you're doing content creation, rendering, video editing etc. Just save your money. If you feel like you will be doing these things in the near future, then you might aswell get the 4790k.

2. Not necessarily but you can have an AIO cooler if you wanted, but the cooler I put on your build plan is more than capable for overclocks. Just save your money, unless you think you will benefit ALOT from it.

3. Do you intend to game on a 1440p monitor in the future? (4k is useless to me, certain games aren't optimized good) Though one GTX 970 can perform reasonably well on 1440p (even better in 1080p) you might have to turn down some few settings in a game if you want consistent fps results. If you're gonna be gaming on a 1440p monitor, I say ditch a 1920x1080p display now and get a 2560x1440p monitor instead and get 2 GTX 970's. The GTX 970 is only 10% slower than the GTX 980 but is 60% more costly. It out performs a single GTX 980 on 1440p and is probably even cheaper.

I dont plan on on gaming on anything other than 1080p anytime soon. So the GTX 970 is decent enough?

Im building a pc as well and just wanted to say the Noctua NH-D15 would be better than the 14 because it's no maintenance, until you have to blow the dust out, and it preforpreforms silently and aswell as the closed loop water coolers, I haven't built mine but my friend has it and even linus says it on the youtube channel they even test it.

Just 2 more questions.

1. after checking my local computer store's website, they do not have the case you recommend, is there another case you could recommend?

2. EVGA, ASUS or Gigabyte is terms of the gtx 970?

1. what about the NZXT Phantom 410?

2. I would go with the Gigabyte GTX 970 G1 Gaming.

Though EVGA and ASUS are still very good brands. It depends how much you're willing to spend.

I'm not sure, check the websites for the cooler and the case manufacturer for the dimensions :)

EDIT: I just searched and you have enough space, the cooler is 160mm high and the case supports up to 180mm. which leaves you with 20mm.

So i just checked the performance of the cooler but its a 15 instead of a 14, and it competes with the liquid coolers, i was just curious about the advantages and disadvantages of water/air cooling? :)

what do you mean 15 instead of 14?

well, both has its advantages and disadvantages. air cooling is typically cheaper than an AIO cooler and sometimes more effective. air coolers typically run quieter than water cooled coolers. however they take up more room which might interfere with your memory sticks compared to an AIO cooler.

it all depends on what you want, for me, if i was building a rig, i would go water cooled. but air cooling is still a choice for me.

Even only at 1080p, you can use downsampling until you get a better monitor.

So getting a more powerful GPU can be accepted, even for 1080p>future uses.

Maximums - Asus Z97-K /w i5 4690 Bclk @106.9Mhz * x39 = 4.17Ghz, 8GB of 2600Mhz DDR3,.. Gigabyte GTX970 G1-Gaming @ 1550Mhz

Thats up to you and your budget really...

But yeah it's more than okay, you'd be pretty well off having a GTX980 in there, in the future you can choose to use a 1080p 120-144hz panel just fine, or a higher resolution and still be just fine.

Or leave it at what you got, 1080p/60hz and use downsampling.

It is just based around the size factor of a air cooler and if you can fit it its the best option?

Here are my thoughts:

http://au.pcpartpicker.com/p/GZzgNG

Two EVGA 970s which are the bomb, i7-4790K, 8GB RAM, Mobo with WIFI, 2TB storage + 250GB of SSD, 750W PSU, NZXT H440 Black/White.

It's only $100 over though...

You seem to be missing a Monitor and Keyboard  B)
