Is it normal for CPU progress to be ahead of GPU progress?

I'm folding for the LTT team and was wondering if it was odd that my CPU was ahead of my GPU. Is it because the GPU is given more complex tasks?

In general, no. The GPU is given more complex tasks, but it is also faster at completing them. It just depends on your GPU. I have an FX-4130 too, and it was always ahead of my GPU. Albeit, my GPU is terrible at folding to the point where I just CPU fold.

No. Its because folding is not as efficient on GPUs.

Why not try bitcoin mining? And then you'll come back to ask why GPUs are ahead of CPUs.

You mean yes?

Edit: Nvm I see....  :P

System: Thinkpad T460

Oh yes thanks. I thought that bitcoin mining and folding were basically the same, so I assumed that it would affect the system in the same way.

Stupid me

The WU's the gpu is getting are far more complex than the cpu, this is why the gpu takes longer.

However the gpu is also much better for folding as can be seen with the reward (points).

If a gpu were to get the same wu's as a cpu it'll be done in minutes.

Cpu's and gpu's get different wu's, they are not comparable. It's as simple

as that. It really depends on the wu's you are given, some are longer than

others, also depends on your hardware, but it really doesn't matter.

Don't thank huilun02 because he has no idea what he is talking about, he might

aswell have said it's because you had milk for breakfast. Folding and mining

is not the same though, at all, just to clarify that.

Jee thanks. I was just trying to break his impression that CPUs are better at everything than GPUs.

Way to make a friend there.

He never said such a ting, it wasn't even remotely implied in his message. What you

were doing was handing out false information and creating misconceptions. At the

very least you could admit you were wrong and leave it at that.
