I have a R9 280x that im going to be using in my first build. I need to choose a monitor. Ill be using it for studying/productivity as well as casual gaming. I definitely want better visuals rather than response time etc. Please help me solve the following: Can i get decent fps with a 1440p display? I want to be able to play gta v smoothly (when it comes out :P ) as well as BF4 and Arma lll etc. What would look better, 1080p ultra or 1440p med-high? Also is there any IPS 120-144hz monitors?

probably 1080..

You could probably go with a 29" 2560x1080 ultra wide that would work nice and run at 75hz.  I'm running a r290 and just got an LG 29um55, its an older model monitor but it looks fantastic and runs flawlessly with my r290..

to add, you might hold off on purchasing a video card, from what I hear AMD is going to release a new card in like April, so I would assume the older cards prices will drop a bit..
