Well most of the East cost has school cancelled, so....

But if you have a big test or something tmrw, well that sucks.

50 words? Do you have an in-between-classes-freetime period? You could probably memorize them in 20 min. Don't expect miracles though. 20 min memorization won't last for a day without you forgetting have the material.

So you are telling me that your school closes when you get like 4 inches of snow?? That's hilarious. Here in the northeast we will still go to school so long as it is less than a foot of snow.

Well VA isn't nearly as prepared. Every school district and state has a set budget, and they need to spend more or less on snow plows and rock salt. Places like MA and NY most likely prioritize snow higher than VA.

Doesn't matter because we get a max of 15 free snow days, then after that, they start adding to the end of the year.

Last year we literally didn't have a single full week of school in January  :D

How in hell does anyone past 5th grade need vocabulary tests? Not even gonna mention help with vocabulary tests.

Because for AP US Government we get 50 words a week to memorize and supposedly there's a lot of vocab on the AP test. It also counts for 1/3 of my grade :)

You know, stuff like blanket primary, direct mail, malapportionment, political action committee, it would help to know what they are on the test.

Most High-School and college teachers/professors make questions based around terms learned in the chapter. It isn't a match the description with the word but questions will be in the format of the description. Pretty easy kind of test to write up, they teach you that in my teaching academy.

Meh. I've never had trouble with tests (excluding math).

On thing I can suggest, is a knowledge of Latin when it comes to vocabulary tests. Has helped me more times than I can count, even in things that aren't vocabulary based. I managed to get an A in my com115 class without reading the book, simply because I have a good understanding of the English language.

Those seem rather easy, at least without a context.

Well it could be any subject with jargon that most people wouldn't know. Terms in the film industry for my Film studies classes were on Quizlet. Vocab tests are a pretty good way to learn something.

That was kind of my point. Any of those terms could be generalized in a completely accurate way, for instance:

Malapportionment: A percentage of a budget that ends up going towards something that is completely irrelevant to that budget (just guessing).

Personally I would equate the term with what companies/politicians actually do with the funds for their pet projects. A bit too drunk to put that in a completely logical and non-specific way at this point in time.

Well yeah taking the root of the words with added prefixes and suffixes would help but why not add to the learning with vocab tests. It is an easy system of learning and a time saver.

Edit: ooops we got a little off-topic on an off-topic post lol.

Yeah, that was my point, just had a bit much to drink to put it together like that. Knowing prefixes and suffixes has saved my ass so many times it's not even funny, especially in multiple choice stuff.
