Hi guys so I decided that I should just build a pc. I picked the i5 4690k and I also thought of the 4790k. Does programs like ableton benefit from hyperthreading? I can afford each but I want to use my money wisely. Thanks!

p.s. If us have time could u check out my build and tell me what u guys think?

EDIT: I know I don't have a mobo. I have a budget of $300 for a mobo. Asus monos only please.

Generally yes, because encoding music does take advantage of more CPU power, but if you already have the 4690K just stick with it. It's not anywhere near as big of a deal as video editing or 3D rendering

Yes. GPU acceleration is not good, but multi cores/threads is excellent. Unless you're getting paid for it? Don't bother upgrading though.

The projects never end in my line of work.

Depends on the software to be honest...., some media creation programs only utilize up to 4 cores/threads, some do more...

Maximums - Asus Z97-K /w i5 4690 Bclk @106.9Mhz * x39 = 4.17Ghz, 8GB of 2600Mhz DDR3,.. Gigabyte GTX970 G1-Gaming @ 1550Mhz

Ableton is live (Heh, ableton live), as in realtime, so it probably won't be taking advantage of multithreading.
