If it's severe, I would RMA. Other than that, there's nothing you can do.

Wow, that's a bummer. 2 Asus monitors, one with heavily bad ghosting, the next with annoying backlight issues. I know what brand i'm not recommending for monitors. :P

Bad luck, my Asus VW246H has no ghosting and no backlight bleed, but my Acer B286HK has backlight bleed and quite a bit of ghosting.

Are they the non-IPS model of this by chance? http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16824236335&cm_re=asus_ips-_-24-236-335-_-Product

I thought I had ghosting, but then I set my monitors response time to "none" (as fast as possible) and it was gone. That day I dropped a massive stone fro. My heart :P

Not every monitor is bad but of course if u burn yourself in 2/2 then there's no discussion about it.

So I have this weird looking backlight bleed on the edges of my monitor, it only happens when the color around those edges is black and it's purple. Anyone have any ideas on what it might be and if there is a way to fix or remedy it?

Would it it be at all possible to take some pics and show us what you're concerned about? :)

It only happens when the screen is black (not off) and only on the edges.

Hmm...that isn't the most severe I've seen. I actually thought this only occurred on IPS and VA panel equipped displays, that's interesting.

It's just really distracting, especially in dark games.

I bet it is. If you look via Google there are tutorials around that help fix this sort of issue, why don't you have a look, then report back with your findings. :)

Yea, that is backlight bleeding. To me, this looks like a TN panel.

Backlight bleeding is actually very common for TN panel. There is always some level of backlight bleeding, including high-end TN panels. The backlight bleeding on TN panels also affects colors (colors appear brighter where you have the bleeding).

Depending on how much you are willing to spend an IPS monitor will have little (usually only a corner), to none. The bleeding of the IPS panels is visible when you have a full black screen, but will not affect colors, as it does on TN panel.

Can you fix up your post please? Otherwise the grammar nazi in me will emerge. LOL
