Hello

I was looking around for some RAM for my upcoming PC build (which I am trying to build for under 450 USD) when I thought "4GB of RAM probably isn't enough for my CPU (AMD Athlon X4 870K Black Edition)? But 8GB seems too much. Could I use a 4GB stick and then a 2GB stick in a dual-channel mobo for 6GB?" I guess this question is pretty ridiculous if I'm wrong, but at least I'd know more after. Oh yes, and please tell me if 4GB is fine for my CPU clocked at 3.7GHz (4.0GHz turbo, probably a little overclocked).

Thanks

"The FPS I got was this big!"

They won't work in dual channel mode, however 4GB will work fine.

If you need less than 4GB, stick with 4. If you need more, just go to 8.

With 4 and 2, you won't get dual channel.

Okay, may I ask how you interpret about how much RAM I'd need?

What do you plan on using the PC for? The system requirements of the programs being used is a start as well.

Do you mean 860K? Not important I'm just wondering a silent 870K refresh was made :P

You can run them together fine, you may not get dual channel but honestly the performance impact would be pretty minimal from what I'm reading.
