is the gtx 970 midrange or high end, will there be a 6gb model?

In between mid range and high end. If I had to guess, no, there won't be a 6gb model.

I consider anything that is 760+/280+ as high end. It would be unlikely to have 6gb 970 from my knowledge.

Probably no 6gb and it's high end  but not top tier.

At the moment it's high end, like the 770 was when it came out. Obviously the 770's ranking dropped a little with the 780 Ti, and I suspect that the next Titan is going to do something similar to the 970 (if the Titan is a sensible price. Otherwise the 980 will stay high end and Titan will be that ridiculous thing no one in their right mind buys, again.)

Also why would there be a 6GB model? 6GB 780 made sense, it's just double what it already had. Why would they go one-and-a-half? If anything it would be 8GB.
