Final Check - Purchasing Friday/Ordering tomorrow

Go to solution Solved by MattTheMayor,

Hey everyone!

I'm putting together a web browsing/gaming/mild video editing (GoPro only on occasion) PC and I'm starting on the cheaper side and planning to upgrade to a new system in the coming years. I also plan to do some mild overclocking. I wanted to get some opinions before I finally make the purchase. Any and all input is appreciated!

I'm in Canada and my budget is $1300 before tax. I do not need a monitor as I'm going to be using my couch/tv. Hence the cheap wireless mouse/keyboard combo. I plan to upgrade eventually but they will do for the time being. I realize I can get a cheaper case but I've chosen this one by preference of style and that it will look half decent under my TV.

Let me know what you guys think!

This would be a better buy. The 6300 will bottleneck the hell out of the 290x since of it's weak cores.

Windows can be bought from www.reddit.com/r/microsoftsoftwareswap I bought it there. You only need a USB to make a bootable drive with the ISO.

Good luck!

My opinion is if at all possible to avoid using an AMD cpu. That's not the worst AMD chip, but I'd recommend going Intel for content if at all possible.

The projects never end in my line of work.

I like that idea very well! I've tweaked it a little more to my personal preference (really want the Air 540/240). But now I can't find a cooler that will fit inside. Suggestions? For air cooled of course... I'm debating about a smaller water cooler now.

the hyper 212 evo fits the 240 since the case allows heatsinks as big as 120mm and the 212 is 120mm.

BUT i wouldnt get it because it will be a tight fit. heres a list of compatible coolers from pcp http://ca.pcpartpicker.com/parts/cpu-cooler/?compatible_with=corsair-case-cc9011070ww#qq=1

Yeah that's what I'm looking at now but I'm not 100% sure on another decent sub $50 heatsink. I'll figure that part out though. Thanks for the input guys... seems like an obvious change when I look at it now!
