upgrade from fx 8320 ?

Go to solution Solved by TheSLSAMG,

But i heard there's just some 5,10% improvement over current haswell CPUs.

And can't i just buy a z97 mobo and upgrade to broadwell, skylake later if they turn out to be better ?

And how much improvement will i see in gaming if i upgrade to i5 4690k ?

You can buy a Z97 motherboard now, and get a Broadwell CPU in the future if they turn out to be better. Skylake however will be on a new socket.

In games the performance boost is varying, but it tends to be appreciable. This post shows performance differences with the FX 8320 and FX 8350 at some varying clockspeeds.

specs:

amd fx 8320

Asus m5a99fx pro

Asus R9 280x

Crucial ballistix 8gb

Seasonic 620w psu

1080p monitor

I only do gaming on my pc and i wanna upgrade my cpu, mobo.

And i also got a deal of 275$ for mobo and cpu(new ones cost around 350$ here in india).

So my question is should i upgrade my gpu or cpu or none at the moment?

You will be fine for now, wait until Intel release their new lines of CPUs (Broadwell and Skylake) and maybe if AMD can muster up something significant within the next year.

At the moment, AMD doesn't have anything better (especially if you overclock), and getting either 8350/9370/9590 is stupid beyond belief....

Go with Intel, but wait for Skylake, and in the meantime save some more money :D

No improvements in games. The FX is fast enough to load the 280X fully...

Still, you're not pressed for an upgrade, are you O.o

Yeah, but you're just wasting your money on that Skylake CPU then.... Wait for it... :D

In games, especially in games optimized for 4 cores, you will see some improvement, especially if you OC that new chip (4690k) :D

Heyyo,

As others have said, AMD doesn't have any offering that's a proper upgrade over your current FX CPU to justify buying a slightly faster one... You can always toss an after market cooler on your current CPU and overclock or buy an Intel CPU and matching motherboard. In the high-end CPU market at the moment? AMD is still quite far behind Intel's i5 and i7 CPUs.

That? Or wait for DirectX 12 and Windows 10. Your FX CPU will get a performance boost due to better multi-threaded CPU optimizations.
