So, the FCC reclassified some things under title II recently and I've been reading various responses by different sets of political ideologies. In an ideal world, companies would do right without needing to be told so, but this isn't the reality. Anyone on LTT that is American is well aware of the internet situation, especially those with Netflix accounts. The reason the latter is important is many on this forum are well aware of Netflix being bullied by ISPs with throttling because of wanting more cash. Instead of the ISP providing the service the consumer paid for, Netflix was footing the bill so their customers wouldn't complain - something I've been critical of.

Now, Net Neutrality isn't a fancy elixir that will change anything. The entire point of NN to begin with was leave the internet alone, not give people free internet or heavily regulate it. With the red tape lifted from states being barred from forming their own local broadband, I'd love for other cities to follow suit with their own gigabit network that Chattanooga Tennessee became known for. To me, this is how the real free market works. If one company isn't providing adequate service, another company should be allowed to step in to actually do so. This whole territory lock and so on, that's not the free market, it's questionably legal monopolies/duopolies.

"But Mooshi, we know this already!" Yeah, yeah, I know many people on LTT are bright. For disclosure, I don't follow a political party. I'm capable of seeing both the good and bad without bias. When someone has a good idea, it's a good idea. To dismiss it entirely based on politics makes someone incredibly petty. Likewise, when there is a bad idea, it's bad regardless if the person reps an elephant or a donkey. Case in point, I remember awhile ago on a WAN show, Linus was reading a story a user linked to Breitbart (a conservative news site) and criticized the other articles on that site. You can kind of guess where this is going.. :P

I'm not a fan of Obama, but if Obama said vaccinations are good for children to prevent serious illness, I'm not going to shoot it down and go off like a nutjob claiming buh muh autisms just because I don't like the guy as president. So, remember that Breitbart mention? Yeah, this and the amount of likes, I don't even.

Yeah those kinds of morons make the entire species look moronic, and there IS that kind of stupidity in equal amounts on both the "liberal" and "conservative" sides of the spectrum. Yes, government is incompetent and should not be allowed to control anything they absolutely do not need to control, but the ISP's have proven that they are not capable of being honest and fair, and so our only recourse is to have the government step in and say "stop eating babies".
