First time overclocking

Hello community,

 

So I want to try overclocking my FX-6300. Now the problem is, it's my first time overclocking.

I know already the pros and cons of overclocking. 

Please anwser my questions

 

Some Infos:

CPU: AMD FX-6300 Black Editon ( 3.5 Ghz )

CPU Cooler: Cooler Master Seidon 120V 

Mobo: Asus M5A97 R2.0

 

Questions:

 

Is it even possible to overclock with this setup?

 

Which Software do i need for Overclocking? ( Temp. , Stresstest etc. )

 

How much should i go with overclocking the FX-6300?

 

Any tips ?

That motherboard is actually decent .

 

6+2 power phase I think.

 

VRM heatsinks.

 

It depends a lot on the quality of the chip also.

1,yes you can OC with that setup

2, OC in your BIOS

3,Go until it bluescreens, run Prime 95 for stress and a cpu benchmark, if  its unstable, up the voltage by little

4,go little by little with OC and run a test eachtime.
