OK I was just having an argument with someone about hair.

This was the basis : if I have a hair on my head and I cut it perfectly in half, with one end attached to my head and the other one free, is the half that is still attached to my head called 'hair' or 'half a hair'

Pretty sure its just hair.

Since when is hair determined by its length?

I would say it is a hair. The part that is cut off is no longer part of you so it is not 50% of a hair.
