I have just bought a 8x pcie card that only came with the half bracket. Is there a way to extend this to be able to install in a full size pcie slot?

Cheers

You should be able to install it, It dosnt need to take up all the space in the lane as far as I know.

He's talking about a half height card in a full height case from what I gather. In that case, you would need the full height bracket or to run the card bracketless.

I could be wrong though, in which an x8 card can be inserted into an x16 slot with no issue.

But what about the weight of the card bending in the slot? Plus id like something that looks neat

Go to ebay and look for a full bracket for the card in question. Or buy a blank full bracket and drill holes for mounting the card.

You need to find a full length bracket with the same i/o holes, so probably easiest to find one for your card, a lot of cards with half size brackets come with an interchangeable full length so it shouldn't be too hard. I'd have a quick look on ebay etc and the manufacturers site.

It's a fairly old fibre card, so I don't think there would be any spares.

Are there any adapters out there that are similar to a pcie riser?
