I've ordered a 2500k and a Asus p8z77 l vx mobo. I've also downloaded the latest BIOS from the Asus website, realtek audio drivers, LAN drivers and the AI suite. Is there anything else I need? I want to upgrade by myself by I don't feel really confident about it, also would a fresh install be needed?

Thank you

If you are going replace the Mobo and CPU i would do a clean, in some cases it is not even working without a clean install.

Wat. But that CPU is old, and the AMD 8350 is pretty much the same performance.

Don't worry about it, just pull up a guide from a trusted site/Youtuber and take your time. And yes a fresh windows install is required for a motherboard change.

its old but it stills beats any fx CPU in gaming even today, there is just a couple of fps difference at most between an i5 2500k and an i5 4690k at the same clock speed

I've received it as a gift, I had a old amd processor so it was worth taking. Also, I'd have to create a bootable USB won't I and flash the BIOS from there?

From my experience that site seems pretty accurate.

I suppose it depends what kind of games you play.

Good luck,

Don't forget to pre-download all the mobo drivers + other apps, while you're familiar with current windows and use https://ninite.com/ to save time and search for few of the apps and don't worry it automatically skips/cancels any bloatware from ads.
