My rig is asrock x99x killer mobo, i7 5820k, 8gb ddr4, gtx970 and 256ssd.

Had it running for the first time yesterday. The weird problems im having sometimes after windows update restart it wont boot to windows instead to a black screen with asrock in the center and few boot option in the lower right corner. Options like go in uefi, instant flash, boot menue and switch screen but when i press f2 or f11 that corresponds to the options it does nothing just stuck there.

I had to manually power off and power on again which this time it booted into windows and finished updating. The main problem i have tonight is i scheduled an error check or check disk on my os ssd. It restarted into the same asrock screen with non responding boot options. I was forced to power off and now i got a start up repair screen. I clicked it but it wasnt able to repair so i tried restore also failed. This is all happening before logging into windows. Im afraid to power on again.

Why is it booting into that asrock screen and just freeze there? My boot priority were ssd first. Im thinking about reinstalling windows 7 and have a fresh start.

How do i exactly do this? do i need to clear/reset bios? how do i fromat my ssd? i just want it back the way it was before i power the machine on.

this sounds like the mobo is having issues

can you clear CMOS and rebuild your OS?

if that dont work

try updating the BIOS and see if the mobo still give the same problem

otherwise it time to RMA the mobo

Alright, strange issue for sure. Time to open it up and check everything. And I mean everything.

Pop out each ram stick, then reinsert. Wiggle the 24 pin main power plug, is it in all the way? Clip and all?

Check you video card, is the pci-e slot lock fully engaged? Pull the card out and re-insert. How is the pci-e power? Check the plugs, sometimes they like to slip out for no reason.

Check your SATA cables at the motherboard, are the fully engaged? Best to check, wiggle and push. Check the drive end. Unplug and plug back in to make sure. How's the SATA power? Better check those too.

The 8 pin auxiliary power up by the CPU socket. Is it in all the way? Are all pins fully engaged? Make sure.

Screws for the motherboard, are they all in risers? Are they all tight? The motherboard has no movement right? Nothing should be directly contacting the vack of the motherboard. Good? Check your front panel connection. Sometimes you can get them backwards or mixed up. It happens.

Check all that. And check it again if you think you missed it. Most often a problem like this is just a small thing missed.

Have you overclocked at all? Maybe try running memtest86 too just to be sure. Best to test one stick at a time. It takes some time so grab a coffee, sit back and watch some techtips videos.

Remove the disc! The system is trying to boot from it.
