Broadwell is the next platform and it will be on the 1150 chipset. It won't bring any new features besides lower power consumption. Desktop Skylake is expected in the end of the year or even in Q1 of 2016. SKylake will be on the 1151 chipset and will bring DDR4 to the mainstream. More than quad-core processors are not expected, though, therefore if you want a six- or even eight-core CPU you will have to step up to LGA 2011-3, where a new refresh of CPU is also expected.
